Hello again! Thank you for checking in with me this week. Today’s post is about the prayer the Spirit inspired me to use each time I study, and the Huh!s and Wow!s I experienced reading through the passage with Him. I’m amazed that so much has come out of just six verses!
Last Week’s Work
MY PRAYER
Oh LORD, thank You that You are my Healer! In the desert of my life, You help me find water in Your Word—it is the life-giving spring I can’t live without now. As I continue learning about You this year, open my eyes to see, my ears to hear Your Spirit’s counsel, and my heart and mind so Your Word can be planted and grow in both places. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
HUH? and WOW! MOMENTS
This time, the Wow!s outnumber the Huh?s:
- HUH? No water for 3 days! How could they survive (v22)?!
- WOW! I remember marah means bitter (v23) from my Ruth studies in 2024!
- WOW! “Moses cried to the LORD”—He knew exactly where to go when the people grumbled against Him (v25)!
- WOW! A log flung at God’s command makes bitter water turn sweet (v25)!
- WOW! The LORD tested them and gave them three rules: Listen diligently to Him, Do what is right in His eyes, Listen and keep His commandments … I think it’s interesting they were told to listen twice and do only once, though somehow I don’t think they’re going to be able to follow those rules! (v26).
- HUH? Not sure which commandments/statutes the LORD is talking about—the official Ten Commandments or the three mentioned in this same verse (v26)?
- WOW! God led them from bitter water to a place with an abundance of shade and water (v27)!

- MINE: Read Exodus 15:22-27, focusing on three factors setting the stage in this text: note anything the Spirit emphasizes about the characters involved, any locations mentioned, and any timeframes discussed.
